Creating a Privacy Policy Page and Embedding Policy Code in WordPress
Once you complete the setup of your Website Policies, you will receive a snippet of code. You will need to create a privacy policy page on your website (if you don't already have one) and add that code. Here's how to do it in WordPress:
Step 1: Log in to Your WordPress Dashboard
- Open your web browser and navigate to your WordPress login page (usually
yourdomain.com/wp-admin
). - Enter your username and password, then click Log In.
Step 2: Create a New Page
- In the WordPress dashboard, hover over Pages in the left-hand menu and click on Add New.
- Title your new page Privacy Policy.
Step 3: Add HTML Code Using Gutenberg HTML Block
- If you need to add HTML code to your privacy policy page, click on the + Add Block button (a plus icon) within the Gutenberg editor.
- In the block search bar, type HTML and select the Custom HTML block.
- Paste your HTML code into the Custom HTML block.
- You can click on the Preview button within the block to see how your HTML code will render on the page.
Step 4: Customize and Publish Your Page
- Customize the design and layout of your privacy policy page as needed.
- Click Preview at the top right to see how your page looks.
- Once satisfied, click Publish to make your privacy policy page live.
Step 5: Add the Privacy Policy Page to Your Website Menu
- In the WordPress dashboard, hover over Appearance in the left-hand menu and click on Menus.
- Select the menu where you want to add the privacy policy page.
- Find your Privacy Policy page in the list of pages and check the box next to it.
- Click Add to Menu.
- Drag and drop the page to the desired location in the menu.
- Click Save Menu.
Step 6: Verify and Test
- Open your website in a new browser tab to ensure the privacy policy page is accessible and displays correctly.
- Test any embedded HTML code to make sure it functions as expected.
